The Frugal Mami is Born

Hi! My name is Brenda, and I am the mother of a 2 year old boy, Caleb. We are a single parent household, so money is very important to us. I live on a manageable budget, however, my ultimate goal is eliminate all debt, save enough to move into a comfy condo, and grow my savings account, (currently almost non-existent). As a single mom, those goals seem unattainable at times with exorbitant price of daycare and daily expenses, and we do live pay-check to paycheck. Recently, a coworker of mine, suggested I spend some time on Mint.com and figure out how I could become more financially responsible. I signed up on the website, downloaded the app, and plugged in my info. I receive a monthly summary of my spending, and where I can scale back on purchases. Last month, I received an unusual spending alert on the food category. If Mint.com could lecture me on excessive spending, I am sure it would!  I was shocked to see how many small purchases added up to a huge amount over time. After cleaning out my refrigerator of many Togo containers and spoiled food, I have decided to make some small changes. Sure, it is easy to grab dinner on the go, when my little guy is hungry, but that is adding up. So, I am challenging myself to One week of cooking dinner at home every night! My ultimate goal is to make eating out a treat for us both. Thus- the Frugal Mami is born.Welcome to my site. I hope to grow a little out of blog in an effort to save money.
